Two St Luke “Field Trips.”

In late September, a group of St Luke folks went out for “pub night” at Timothy Nolan’s in Toluca Lake, where we got to see our own Patrick D’Arcy play pipes as part of the “Session.”  It was lovely to hear this music in such an intimate space, and we enjoyed our meals & drinks&conversation, too.

Last month, a group of St Luke folks went to the Huntington Library exhibit on the California missions and Father Serra.  The tour was an hour and a half long but there was still much we didn’t talk about in detail.  There was one room devoted to the “romanticized” notions we get about the era of the missions, but much of the exhibit made it clear that the missions brought some of the same approaches as the European inquisition to native California.
